Inter wish to increase Lautaro Martinez’s release clause in his contract to €200 million according to a report in today’s print edition of Catalan newspaper Sport.

The 22-year-old Argentine international has a €111 million release clause, the highest of any Inter player at the moment, in his current contract which is due to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Amid continued interest from Spanish giants Barcelona, Inter have met several times with the representatives of Lautaro, who has scored 13 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions, to discuss a new and improved contract.

As per the report, Lautaro’s representatives have asked that his current circa €2 million salary is doubled in order for him to have a salary befitting of his status within the team. Inter are however not so keen on giving him such a hike in wages.

Moreover, his representatives would like to see the release clause remain as is as they deem it an affordable figure for bigger clubs.
