Fiorentina have taken to social media to confirm that winger Franck Ribery is set to undergo surgery to correct an ankle injury.

The Frenchman has missed La Viola’s past two matches and will miss this weekend’s match against Inter too as a result of needing to go under the knife.

It is as yet unclear when the 36-year-old, who joined the Florence based club on a free transfer this past Summer, will make a return to action.

“Franck Ribery had a check-up today to ascertain the cause of the pain he has been feeling when making certain movements. To ensure he can return to action soon, a minor surgical procedure will be completed in the coming hours,” they posted to Twitter.
