Inter Women goalkeeper Chiaria Marchitelli has taken to photo sharing social media platform Instagram to voice her views on the news that the Italian Senate have amended the budget which will help the women’s game become fully professional.

Whilst some teams play on professional terms, the majority of teams play semi-professionally and are having to hold down other jobs on top of their football.

34-year-old Marchitelli joined Inter this past Summer from Florentia and has allowed represented the likes of Lazio and ACF Brescia during her career.

“A very important first step has been taken, but it is only the starting point, the decision on professionalism is always up to the federations. We are confident, however, because finally the right path has been taken. A big thank you goes to all the political forces that have worked on this,” she posted.
