Inter have officially announced that they will not be hosting a press conference today ahead of the clash with Fiorentina, due to a letter published in yesterday’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The club details how the club are offended by the letter published under the guidance of the paper’s editor, Ivan Zazzaroni, and so are cancelling the press conference today in order to give a signal to all the media in Italy that they “must ensure respect towards all people.”
The Rome based paper has been widely criticised recently for their headline last week about the Nerazzurri’s league clash against Roma, entitled ‘Black Friday’, with a large picture showing both Inter striker Romelu Lukaku and Roma defender Chris Smalling.
Whilst the paper tried to defend the headline by showing articles written in the past condemning racism within Italian football, many criticised the poor taste and tactless approach from the paper.
Both AC Milan and Roma have banned the paper until 2020.
