Inter coach Antonio Conte spoke to gathered reporters in the official post match press conference last night, following the Nerazzurri’s disappointing 1-1 draw against Fiorentina, with Italian media outlet FcInterNews reporting his words.
First, Conte spoke about the fact that Inter haven’t won in their last three games.
“I blame it on the fact that in the third game we earned less than we deserved. There were good moments to score goals, but we weren’t good, and we conceded when attacking. I’m sorry because there’s been a lot of effort from the guys, I can’t say anything to my squad because they’re giving me all their energy.”
“It’s not easy to deal with a lot of games and some can play despite being suffering from fatigue. But as I said we have to get to Christmas in the best possible way and recover players like Sensi and Sanchez who haven’t seen the pitch in two and a half months.”
He spoke about how he will approach next week’s game, knowing that he won’t be able to play midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
“Let’s see a little bit during the week. Today Agoume made his debut, he is 17 years old like Esposito. Let’s see if Borja Valero is fine, he seems to have only a bit of fatigue. We’ll see in the week.”
Finally, Conte touched on the Nerazzurri’s decision to cancel their press conference on Saturday, due to a letter published the day prior in the Corriere dello Sport which severely insulted Conte.
“We hear about respect, but are we joking? I find myself in the newspapers with the news of the death threats and the bullet received without knowing anything.”
“But guys, think about what happened in the last month. Do you sometimes think that we have a family too? Do you think we have children and spouses at home? And I hear about respect, has anyone even been offended?”
“Guys, are we okay? No, guys, we’re not fine. In Italy, everyone is free to wake up in the morning and whoever shouts the loudest will become the most relevant.”
