Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has appeared to rule out the possibility of Arturo Vidal departing the club amid continued interest from Inter.
“I am not thinking about reinforcements in the winter transfer window. Possible sales? I will rely on what I have, I do not expect any changes,” he explained in his pre-match press conference ahead of their match against Deportivo Alaves.
The Chilean international midfielder kicked up a fuss in training recently over his lack of playing time this season but it looks like, going by Valverde’s comments, he will have to suck it up until the end of the season.
Inter have identified the 32-year-old as one of their top targets to reinforce their midfield department in the January transfer window but Barcelona look like they will play hardball with the Nerazzurri due to their need to raise significant amount of money for financial fair play purposes.
The Nerazzurri seemingly want to take Vidal on loan for the remainder of the season but Barcelona want an outright sale or loan with an obligation to buy. They reportedly value him between €20-25 million, a fee Inter are unwilling to pay for someone of his age.
