Italian journalist Maurizio Pistocchi has commented on the recent controversy surrounding the appointment of referee Luca Pairetto, brother of Juventus executive Alberto Pairetto, for today’s league clash between Inter and Genoa.
There have been some complaints that there is a conflict of interest for the Italian referee, due to his brother’s role at Inter’s rival and title race opponents Juventus.
However, it appears that there will be no change of appointment for the game this evening.
Pistocchi revealed an interesting new detail about the situation in a post on his Twitter page.
“It is being discussed whether Luca Pairetto the referee, brother of Alberto Pairetto, Juventus executive, and son of Pierluigi Pairetto, ex-referee designator suspended for his part in Calciopoli, could referee Inter-Genoa. But that’s not the problem: Gavillucci was supposed to be in his place.”
