SPAL manager Leonardo Semplici has spoken on the importance of Andrea Petagna to his team amid continued media speculation which has seen him linked to several other clubs.
“He is an important player for us. He has been decisive for us in the past year,” Semplici stressed in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.
“He has had an extraordinary season. If he had scored the penalties he missed, he would have had more goals. I think he has the right team behind him.”
Semplici concluded: “They always try to put him through on goal but he has had some difficulty when it comes to finishing and therefore must grow in this regard.”
Inter are believed to be one of the clubs to have shown an interest in signing him as they look to find themselves a player capable of playing back-up to Romelu Lukaku. Olivier Giroud and Fernando Llorente have both also been linked with Inter to fill this position.
