Ivan Perisic has insisted that he and his Croatia teammates cannot afford to go into EURO 2020 thinking they will go all the way and win it.
Croatia shocked many as they reached the World Cup final in the Summer of 2018 but Perisic insists that a modest approach is best for them for EURO 2020, which will take place across a number of host cities in Europe.
“We are all ready for the tournament, we know what awaits us. We cannot call ourselves favourites and must face the tournament with modesty,” he explained in an interview with Croatian broadcaster HRT.
“If we go thinking that we will win, things will not end well for us. We are not favourites but we will try to do our best.
Asked about how he has settled into life in Munich he responded: “I liked the city immediately.”
Whilst out on loan at Bayern, Perisic has made 19 appearances across all competitions. In 953 minutes on the field, he has scored four goals and provided six assists.
