In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, noted journalist Giancarlo Padovan has shared his thoughts on Inter’s pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal.

“It is not necessary for Inter to sign Vidal because they are already first in the league without him and have players like Sensi and Barella,” he began.

It is clear that if Vidal arrives he will be the starter and it means that someone will have to be left out. Barcelona are short on midfielders and it is difficult to see them opening up to let him go.

“The player has done everything possible to get away and it now remains to be seen whether or not Inter know how to make the most of this.

Padovan concluded: “Vidal has all the characteristics that Conte wants in a player; fury, strength, determination and technique. Vidal is a very complete player which is why he is Inter’s main transfer target rather than others.”
