In an interview with Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, legendary Italian football manager Fabio Capello has spoken on Inter’s pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal.

“He would be a big signing. The January transfer window makes sense when you buy quality players like him. Vidal is an experienced player with an eye for goal and Conte knows him very well. With him, Inter could aim for the league title,” he said.

Capello was then asked about the title race and if he thinks it is a three-way race between Inter, Juventus and Lazio.

“Lazio must be convinced that they can play for the title. In theory, they have the potential to aim for the league title. They are a group of champions, have a very good manager in Simone Inzaghi, an excellent director in Igli Tare who almost never makes mistakes on the market. Lotito has proven to be an excellent president.

“Who are the favourites? Juve are Juve, but they have the Champions League on their mind. Inter have a free mind having went down from the Champions League to the Europa League, they will focus everything on the league and with Vidal they can do it.”
