In an interview with Grazia magazine, Wanda Icardi, the wife, and agent, of Inter striker Mauro Icardi has spoken on what it is like to represent him.

“I would like to make myself known above all for being a woman. Unfortunately I am seen by everyone as the wife and agent of Mauro Icardi. Sometimes people say I ruin his career but certain decisions in the end have proved me right,” she explained.

“A few months ago all of Italy said I was ruining my husband, who was to go to Napoli or Juventus but I felt a sentence inside me, a sixth sense that all of us women have: ‘Mauro has to go away.’ If he had stayed in an Italian team, our life would have been easier, but I only thought about what was best for him, not for our family.”

Wanda then went on to reveal that her husband once considered quitting football due to his experience with a previous agent.

“Mauro had an agent whom he trusted blindly, he was like second father to him. One day when buying an apartment, he discovered that the money he had earned was not available to him.

“He had been made to sign a contract in English in which he signed over all his image rights to him. My husband was in crisis, he no longer trusted anyone, he wanted to stop playing.”

She concluded: “Everyone believes that I am with Mauro for his money, but I was already rich and famous when we met. When he left for Paris it was a Thursday, we spent the weekend together, then on Monday I woke up in Milan and I realised that I was alone with five children. It wasn’t easy.”
