Arturo Vidal’s Barcelona future could become even more precarious if he is made to start on the bench tomorrow night against Espanyol according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The 32-year-old Chilean international wishes to leave the Blaugrana and is understood to be Inter’s number one transfer target.

Despite his intentions being clear, Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde yesterday told him that he still sees him as an important player for his team.

Vidal therefore feels that if this is truly the case he should be starting games far more often than he has during this season.

It could also be the case that Vidal is omitted from the squad entirely almost as a punishment for taking the club to court over unpaid bonuses. This would almost certainly lead to him pushing harder to leave the reigning Spanish champions.

This season he has made 19 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored five goals and tallied one assist.
