Inter’s transfer plans are being slowed by their inability to offload Gabriel Barbosa, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri expected Flamengo to make a greater effort to sign the striker on a permanent basis, after he scored 43 goals for the Brazilian side in a stunning 2019.

Antonio Conte wants Arturo Vidal as his first January reinforcement but Inter are also pondering moves for a wing-back and a centre-forward.

“Inter hoped to sell Gabigol immediately so they could reinvest the money from his sale into signing the midfielder Conte wants,” GdS reported today.

“Matteo Darmian and Olivier Giroud are the players identified at wing-back and up front, but someone will need to be sold first.”

Inter will restart their Serie A campaign when they play Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo on Monday night.

Conte’s side are level on points with Juventus heading into 2020 but currently hold the advantage courtesy of goal difference.
