Inter are prepared to make an improved bid to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Marcos Acuna, according to O Jogo.

The Nerazzurri previously offered the Portuguese side a six-month loan worth €1 million and an option to buy for €10 million, which was immediately rejected.

Sporting are holding out for €15-20 million and want to sell the 28-year-old on a permanent basis, not on loan.

Inter cannot make a permanent offer in January because of Financial Fair Play restrictions, but they could attempt to break the impasse by increasing the fee for both the loan and the option to buy.

Acuna has made 120 appearances in all competitions for Sporting since joining the Primeira Liga giants in 2017, scoring eight goals and creating 22 assists in that period.

He boasts 27 caps for the Argentine national team and was part of Jorge Sampaoli’s 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where they were beaten by France in the last 16.
