Federico Chiesa looks set to agree to a contract extension with Fiorentina according to a report in today’s print edition of Florence based newspaper Corriere Fiorentino.

The 22-year-old’s future with the club had looked in doubt in recent months but the landscape has changed and his short term future at least looks set to be in a Viola shirt.

He is currently under contract with the Stadio Artemio Franchi side through to the end of the 2021/22 season and great strides have been taken in recent days when it comes to extending it past that date.

It had previously seemed like the inclusion of a release clause would be required for any contract extension to be penned but as per the report, the contract may not even include a release clause in it whatsoever.

Inter and Juventus are both long term admirers of the Italian international and if he does sign a new contract, it remains to be seen if their interest will be deterred.
