Inter have already decided which three players they will sign to reinforce Antonio Conte’s squad in January, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

But the Nerazzurri need to sell some of their own fringe players first in order to finance the moves they have planned.

Arturo Vidal is destined to arrive in midfield while Matteo Darmian and Olivier Giroud will provide fresh options out wide and up front respectively.

Inter’s struggle to find a buyer for Gabriel Barbosa, though, whose 12-month loan with Flamengo has now expired, is slowing their transfer activity.

“They had counted on selling Gabigol immediately so they could reinvest the money from his sale into signing the midfielder Conte wants,” GdS reported.

“Everything can still happen between now and 31 January, though.”

Inter will restart their Serie A campaign when they play Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo tonight.

Conte’s side are level on points with Juventus heading into 2020 but currently hold the advantage courtesy of goal difference.
