Romelu Lukaku is the only Inter striker in the past 70 or so years to have scored 12 goals during the first half of the Serie A season, a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport highlights.

The Belgian international striker has immediately settled in to his new surroundings following his club record €65 million transfer during the Summer transfer window from Premier League side Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has formed a promising strike partnership with Lautaro Martinez and has scored 12 goals in the league with two games to spare until the second half of the season begins.

The last players to achieve this feat were Stefano Nyers and Amedeo Amadei way back in the 1948/49 season. Nyers and Amadei scored 17 and 15 respectively during the first half of that campaign.

Other players to achieve this feat include Bruno Quaresma in the 1947/48 season and the legendary Giuseppe Meazza some 90 years ago in the 1929/30 season,
