In an interview with Italian football television show Pressing Serie A, legendary Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga shared his views on Inter’s 3-1 win over Napoli.
“Inter’s victory against Napoli is fundamental because Juventus won against Cagliari, who have been the surprise story this season,” he explained.
“Inter won 3-1 and showed a lot of strength, especially in the first half and it was an important response.
“Napoli are a completely different team from last year. They seem to have lost all confidence in themselves.”
He proceeded to speak on Romelu Lukaku, who scored a brace during the game.
“Lukaku is giving 200% because the manager wanted him at all costs and believes in him. It is normal that at the beginning there were the comparisons with Icardi who is a totally different player and is doing very well at PSG but it is not easy for a player who comes from the Premier to score all these goals.
“Romelu knows how to work for the team that is what Conte was looking for. Lukaku’s presence in the team has probably helped Lautaro in becoming even stronger than he already was.”
Zenga concluded by heaping praise on Lautaro Martinez.
“Two years ago I went to Appiano to see training and Luciano Spalletti told me that Lautaro was an extraordinary number nine but he still had to grow and it of course takes time for that to happen.
“Lautaro has been able to take advantage of certain movements that Lukaku makes and they compliment each other. They both have a lot of strength and technique.
“Lautaro is smaller than Lukaku but he is very strong and it is difficult for teams to play against Inter because they are forced to make certain decisions to deal with the two of them.”
