Flamengo speeding negotiations up with Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa is due to West Ham United being interest according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The Rio de Janeiro club are moving quickly to try and agree personal terms with the 23-year-old striker to avoid losing him to the Hammers, who would ultimately be able to offer him more money.

Gabigol spent 2019 out on loan at Flamengo and really put his name back on the map with his performances. The former Santos player, who joined Inter in 2016, scored 43 goals and provided 13 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions.

His performances helped Flamengo to achieve a double as they won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and the Copa Libertadores.

As per various reports in the media, there has been a long standing agreement in principle between Flamengo and Inter over his transfer but the interest from West Ham could well lead to terms being renegotiated.
