Diego Godin could ask Inter to allow him to return to Atletico Madrid according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere della Sera.
The Uruguayan defender has struggled to adapt to the three man defence and in one-on-one situations and has recently lost his place in the starting line-up to youngster Alessandro Bastoni as a result.
Godin arrived at Inter on a free transfer this past Summer after his contract with Atletico Madrid expired at the end of the season and given they have not been entirely convinced by him, Inter have already identified a replacement for him in the event that he does leave.
As per the Milan based newspaper, Inter will go in for Parma’s Matteo Darmian to replace him.
Inter helped Parma to bring Darmian back to Italy over the Summer and it is understood that there is an agreement already in place for him to join Inter in the Summer so reaching an agreement for a January transfer should not be too difficult if it comes to it.
