Flamengo are edging ever closer to completing the signing of Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa from Inter on a permanent basis according to a report from Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte.

After meeting last Sunday, the difference between Gabigol’s demands and what Flamengo were willing to offer were reduced significantly and an agreement over personal terms would appear to be on the verge of being reached.

Despite the progress in talks, Flamengo are yet to get back into contact with Inter regarding the transfer. There is an agreement in principle between the clubs on the basis of a €16 million fee for 80% of Gabigol’s registration rights.

Once an agreement is reached with the player, the Rio de Janeiro club will then seek to formalise this agreement and at long last land the 23-year-old, who starred whilst out on loan at them last year.

Gabigol made 58 appearances across all competitions for the Mengao in which he scored 43 goals and tallied 13 assists.
