Olivier Giroud’s agent is currently in Milan to try and finalise his client’s transfer to Inter according to a report from French news outlet L’Equipe.

Giroud is seeking a two and a half year deal to join Inter but Inter only wish to offer the 33-year-old striker, who was part of the France squad that won the 2018 World Cup, a one and a half year deal.

Despite this, there is great optimism among the parties that the difference can be overcome and a deal can be completed just shortly.

Giroud is well aware that he needs to be playing regularly if he is to stand a chance of making France’s squad for EURO 2020 and is really keen to get a deal done for this reason.

Chelsea were originally opposed to the idea of letting him go but are now willing to let the former Arsenal man depart the club this month.

Giroud, who has been with Chelsea since January 2018, has made just seven appearances this season. In 282 minutes, he has scored one goal.
