Piero Giacomelli has been assigned to referee this weekend’s Serie A matchday 20 match between Lecce and Inter, the Lega Serie A have confirmed.

The 42-year-old has refereed nine games across all competitions so far this season and Sunday’s match at the Stadio Via del Mare will see him referee Lecce for the first time and Inter for the second time this term. Giacomelli refereed Inter’s 4-3 away win against Sassuolo back on matchday eight.

In the nine games he has refereed so far, he has dished out 38 yellow cards, a single red card and awarded seven penalties.

Stefano Liberti and Matteo Bottegoni will be Giacomelli’s assistants whilst Valerio Marini will be the fourth official for the match that sees 17th placed Lecce play host to second placed Inter.

Marco Guida has been assigned to take charge of VAR and Valentino Fiorito will be there to assist him.

Sunday’s match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 local time.
