Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has confirmed that there is no news further to what has already been reported with regard to Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium project.

“There is no news. We are waiting to meet the teams again. They will call us, having clarified what our constraints are. At the moment there is no news,” he is quoted as saying by Italian news agency ANSA when he was asked for an update as he left Milan’s city hall.

The two clubs presented the plans of the two companies bidding to build their new state-of-the-art ground at the tail end of last year and there have been a number of meetings between the clubs and the city council.

The clubs initially wanted to demolish San Siro as part of their grand plans to completely renovate the area and build things like shopping malls, commercial spaces and hotels but the city council have always been opposed to the idea of knocking down San Siro.
