Noted Italian football pundit Mario Sconcerti has shared his thoughts on the proposed swap deal between Inter and Roma involving Matteo Politano and Leonardo Spinazzola that collapsed at the very last minute.

“It was a surprise to me that the deal collapsed, I do not know what to say. I understand there were some doubts about Spinazzola’s physical condition,” he remarked in an interview with Italian radio station TMW Radio.

Sconcerti proceeded to share his views on Inter’s pursuits of Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen.

“Giroud will be Lukaku’s back-up whilst Eriksen looks like he will be a great player. He has to be signed and immediately put on the pitch. He will fight for a place in the team with Alexis Sanchez.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on Inter manager Antonio Conte, who has completely transformed the Nerazzurri since taking charge of the club this past Summer.

“Conte has made Inter competitive again. If Inter finished second or third, it would not be a failure but more a disappointment.”
