Lecce president Saverio Sticchi Damiani discussed his side’s 1-1 draw against Inter on Sunday in an interview with Italian media outlet Calciolecce.it.

“I’m satisfied. During the week I was lucid and balanced when I spoke about our poor form. Even in difficult times you have to keep calm. We’re putting a difficult period behind us.”

Sticchi Damiani then discussed the return of Lecce’s form.

“Between market acquisitions and a few recovered players we’ve gone back to being the Lecce we’ve always admired on other occasions.

“But keeping perspective is fundamental because we didn’t become a world class team today. So now we all have to go back to work, the team on the field and us on the market.”

The Lecce president then praised his squad for their performance against the Nerazzurri.

“We played a tough and determined game, the performance you have to put in as a team fighting to avoid relegation. We were tactically more cautious, but it exalted some players like Christian Dell’Orco. We certainly showed great balance.”

Finally, Sticchi Damiani was positive about the team’s reaction after conceding the first goal of the game.

“We also saw the reaction after conceding. I’m proud because we played against Inter as equals.

“These are points that are worth a lot, both for the league table and for morale.  Now the guys have regained some certainties that we risked losing.”
