Speaking during today’s pre-match press conference ahead of their next Premier League match with Everton, Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that the club are in talks to sign Valentino Lazaro from Inter this month.

“It is fairly common knowledge now that his agent was at St James’ Park at the weekend. We hope we can develop it. Unfortunately, when it gets out like it does, it adds to the competition. Let’s see what the next 24-48 hours bring,” the former Manchester United defender, who has been in charge of Newcastle since 2019, said.

Lazaro only joined Inter in a circa €20 million deal from Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin this past Summer but he has struggled to cement a place in the Inter starting line-up.

The 23-year-old Austrian international defender has made 11 appearances across all competitions to date since arriving at the Nerazzurri. In 513 minutes on the field, he has provided two assists for his teammates.
