As part of ‘Look to the future’ event, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio discussed the insertion of young players into the first team.

“It must be taken into account that all realities are different. For example bringing players to a club like Atalanta, who are doing a great job, is easier than Inter or AC Milan because there is less pressure and expectations,” he explained.

“There is a lot of great quality players out there and it is normal that there is competition for places at big clubs therefore we have to work out ways to insert young players into the first team. We are trying our best in this regard. We believe in ourselves and have a courageous manager in Antonio Conte.

“He has shown this by playing Sebastiano Esposito, Federico Dimarco and Alessandro Bastoni and there will be many other young players who will soon play too.”

He added: “Those at AC Milan have showed courage too. It [inserting young players into the first team] is difficult but I think we will see more and more young players in our teams.”

Ausilio proceeded to discuss Inter’s recent dip in form that has seen them draw four of their last six Serie A matches.

“I would not say that the last period is less positive than others. We won away in Naples, drew with Atalanta and drew against Lecce, who Juventus also drew with. In Serie A it is never easy.

“Let’s not forget that so far, despite the difficulties, we have achieved extraordinary results. We will try to broaden and improve the squad because our goal is to do better, on and off the field.”
