RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosch was in Milan yesterday to hold talks with Inter over the potential transfer of Valentino Lazaro according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

Krosch also spoke with the Austrian international defender’s agent Max Hagmayr, who has recently been in England to hold talks with Premier League outfit Newcastle United.

Leipzig and Newcastle are now set to go head to head for the signature of the 23-year-old wing back, who only joined Inter six months ago in a circa €20 million deal.

Lazaro arrived at Inter from Hertha Berlin but has struggled for regular game time. He has made 11 appearances across all competitions to date but just four of those appearances have come as a starter and he has played in just one of Inter’s last five league matches.

In 513 minutes on the field, the former Red Bull Salzburg player has provided two assists for his Nerazzurri teammates.
