Newcastle United have beaten RB Leipzig to the signing of Valentino Lazaro from Inter according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

As per the report, which appeared on the Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert’s own website, Newcastle have reached an agreement with Inter that will see Lazaro join on loan with an option to buy.

The Premier League outfit will pay a sum of €1.5 million to loan the Austrian defender and can turn his stay into a permanent one at the end of this season for a sum of €23.5 million.

Lazaro only joined Inter six months ago from Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin in a circa €20 million deal but has found playing opportunities at the Nerazzurri limited.

The 23-year-old wing back, who is capable of playing on either side of the pitch, has made 11 appearances across all competitions this season. In 513 minutes on the field, the former RB Salzburg player has tallied two assists.
