Flamengo are hopeful of finalising a deal with Inter over the permanent transfer of Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa today according to a report from Brazilian news outlet Terra.

Flamengo officials, including the club’s vice president Marcos Braz, are currently in Milan to hold talks with Inter management over the 23-year-old striker, who spent the duration of 2019 on loan with them.

The Brazilian giants, as per various other reports in the media, will pay Inter between €18-20 million for the former Santos player and Inter will be entitled to 20% of a future sale as part of the deal.

During his loan stint with the Rio de Janeiro based club, Gabigol made 58 appearances across all competitions during which he scored a highly impressive 43 goals and provided 13 assists for his teammates.

Gabigol joined Inter back in the Summer of 2016 in a circa €30 million deal to much fanfare but ultimately failed to live up to expectations and only made 10 appearances for the club.
