Flamengo could buy the final 10% of Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa’s registration rights from Inter in the future according to a report from Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte.

The Rio de Janeiro based club acquired 90% of his registration rights in a deal with Inter that has cost them just shy of €17 million and the transfer fee will be paid to Inter in instalments over the course of the 23-year-old’s contract with the club.

As per the report, Flamengo have the possibility of purchasing the remainder of the former Santos player’s registration rights but cannot do so until the player achieves certain objectives.

Gabigol has joined Flamengo on a four year contract that will keep him with the club until December 31 2024. The Brazilian international spent last season on loan with them in what proved to be a highly successful time for both him and the club.

All in all, Gabigol made 58 appearances, during which he scored no less than 43 goals and also tallied 13 assists. He also played a pivotal role in Flamengo winning the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and Copa Libertadores.
