Flamengo have included a release clause in the contract of newest recruit Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Gabigol completed a permanent switch to the Rio de Janeiro based club from Inter yesterday and Corriere dello Sport report that Inter have pocketed a sum of €17.5 million through his sale.

Inter are also entitled to 10% of a future sale and therefore could get as much as a further €6 million for the 23-year-old striker, due to the fact Flamengo included a €60 million release clause in his four year long contract with them.

Gabigol spent 2019 out on loan at Flamengo and wrote himself into the club’s history books by scoring 43 goals in 58 appearances across all competitions and helping them win the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A as well as Copa Libertadores.

The Brazilian international spent three and a half years on Inter’s books but was ultimately unable to live up to expectations. He made just 10 appearances for Inter, in which he scored one goal.
