Inter have put the idea of signing another striker on the back-burner according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Inter have drawn links to Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud and, as per the report, the deal is as good as done but Inter do not seem so keen on completing the deal now.

The reason for this is because between the fee and gross salary, the move would cost Inter somewhere between €20-25 million, a sum they consider to be too much for 33-year-old Giroud.

Fernando Llorente has also been linked to Inter and a deal for him would work out a lot cheaper as he would arrive on loan for the remainder of the season but Napoli will not let him leave until they find a replacement.

The report goes on to add that the fact Inter can only make three changes to their UEFA list has also been a factor in Inter cooling their interest in bringing in a new striker.

It concludes that a last minute surprise cannot be ruled out though.
