Inter are working on bringing in Napoli striker Dries Mertens in on a free transfer this Summer according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

Inter have offered the Belgian international, whose contract with Napoli expires at the end of this season, a two year deal that comes with an annual salary of €4.5.

Mertens is understood to be looking for €6 million a year with his new contract wherever that may be and the report suggests the difference could be made up by the inclusion of bonuses.

Inter are believed to be looking to striker and club record signing Romelu Lukaku to help them convince his compatriot Mertens to join them.

The Nerazzurri are in constant contact with the representatives of the former PSV Eindhoven player and have inquired about his physical condition due to his recent injury.

This season Mertens has made 22 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored nine goals and provided four assists.
