In an interview which appeared in today’s print edition of Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, former Inter manager Ottavio Bianchi has spoken on a number on Inter related topics.
He firstly spoke on the work Antonio Conte has done in his first few months in charge of Inter.
“In my opinion, the work Conte has done has certainly been positive, he is doing an excellent job. I believe that at Inter this year there is the awareness that winning the title is possible, but this also applies to Lazio, who have the advantage of being able to concentrate on a single goal.
“After 21 days, Inter have 8 points more than last year, Juventus have 8 points less: it is the photograph of a more open, more uncertain season.”
He was then asked what he made of Conte’s outburst at the full time whistle of the Nerazzurri’s 1-1 draw at home to Cagliari on Sunday afternoon.
“You have to be in certain contexts to understand what is going on, I read that he was not feeling well”.
In conclusion, he spoke on who he thinks will be crowned champions of Serie A come the end of the season.
“I do not know. Juve have dictated thing for eight consecutive years but today they do not give the impression of being an unbeatable war machine.
“Inter and Lazio have a duty to believe in themselves all the way and I am sure it will be a three-way fight until the end of the season. Perhaps we are going through a phase of transition and for sure this helps to make our league more beautiful.”
Bianchi was in charge of Inter for the 1994/95 season and part of the 1995/96 season. During his 14 month stint in charge of the Nerazzurri, Bianchi, who also managed Fiorentina and Napoli among many others, managed 49 games and won 22 of them.
The 76-year-old, who won a single Serie A title during his management career, last managed way back in 2002.
