Genoa have blocked the possibility of striker Goran Pandev making a return to Inter before the January transfer window closest tomorrow night according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport 24.
Pandev emerged as a last minute target for Inter as they look to bring in a new striker to bolster their attacking options but the Nerazzurri will now have to look elsewhere.
The player himself would have rushed back to the club, where he had two previous spells, but Genoa have blocked any possible exit as they deem him too important to the team in their fight against relegation to Serie B.
The 36-year-old Macedonian has continued to make a decent impact this season despite his age and has announced that he plans to retire at the end of this season.
Pandev, who was part of Inter’s treble winning side, has netted five goals in 19 appearances across all competitions this season and has also provided a single assist.
