Inter made a move to sign Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto during the January transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Il Messaggero.

Prior to making a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen, who they would eventually go on to sign, Inter enquired about the availability of the Spaniard.

Lazio were however quick to turn Inter away due to their title winning dream and not wanting to jeopardise that by giving up an important player in the team, especially to a team they are vying for the Serie A title with.

The 27-year-old has been near ever present for the Italian capital city club this season having appeared in 25 of their 30 games across all competitions.

The former Liverpool player has been on the park for little over 2000 minutes and in that time he has scored four goals and provided no less than 13 assists for his Biancocelesti teammates.
