Former Inter striker Nicola Ventola has sang the praises of current Inter striker Romelu Lukaku after he scored two more goals in Inter’s most recent match away to Udinese.

The Belgian international hit the ground running upon his arrival at the club in a club record transfer deal from Premier League side Manchester United during the Summer transfer window and has managed to maintain that form ever since.

In 29 games across all competitions, the former Chelsea striker has netted 20 goals, 16 of which have come in 22 Serie A outings.

In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset show ‘Tiki Taka’, Ventola admitted he was expecting the 26-year-old to do as well as he has done in a Nerazzurri shirt.

“I expected it from him. He has scored goals throughout his career. Now he scores and assists. Conte is helping him a lot,” Ventola said in the interview which was broadcast yesterday.

Ventola also spoke on comparisons being made between Lukaku, Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo and Lazio’s Ciro Immobile, who have also scored goals for fun this season.

“I don’t know if he is more of a leader than team, but as a centre forward he is more complete.”

Ventola spent six years on Inter’s books across two spells and scored 21 goals in 64 appearances across all competitions.
