Legendary Italian football manager Arrigo Sacchi has shared his thoughts on Inter’s performance in their match against Udinese at the weekend in his latest column which appeared in today’s print edition of Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter struggled initially in Udine until Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring just after the hour mark. The Belgian striker would then grab his 20th goal of the season a few minutes later to double Inter’s lead and ultimately kill the game off.

“Conte’s Inter after 60 minutes of suffering manages to get the better of an Udinese who plays an excellent match and puts the Nerazzurri in difficulty. Then some changes made by Conte and the awakening of Lukaku got Inter the win,” Sacchi began the column.

“It was obvious that Esposito would suffer with the physical power of his opponents. It was to be expected that Moses, Eriksen and Young might have some adaptation problems. This makes us understand even more the importance of this win which was decided by Lukaku, who invisible until his first goal.”

Sacchi, who is perhaps best known as the mastermind of the AC Milan side of the late 1980s and early 1990s, then shared what he believes this victory shows about this Inter side.

“The Nerazzurri have shown that they have acquired the character of their manager. There is esteem and trust in Antonio’s work.

“I believe that soon we will also see more progress in things like pressing. Knowing Antonio’s skills, I am sure there will be a happy outcome.”

Inter currently sit in second place in the Serie A table after 22 games played. The Nerazzurri have 51 points to their name and currently trail league leaders and reigning Italian champions Juventus by three points.
