Veteran Juventus centre back Giorgio Chiellini is now back partially training with his teammates and is now targeting his return to playing according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 35-year-old Italian international ruptured his cruciate ligament during a training session at the end of August and due to his age there were fears he might not return at all this season due to the severity of the injury.

As per the Milan based newspaper however, the Bianconeri captain is aiming to return for Juventus’ Champions League last 16 first leg match-up with Ligue 1 side at the end of the month.

If unable to be ready for then, Chiellini, who has made over 500 appearances for the Turin club since joining them in 2005, will try and return for their next game which is the second Derby D’Italia of the season against Inter on March 1.

The report states it will not be easy for him but there is hope that he can soon make a return to the field.
