Former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi suggested that tomorrow’s derby between Inter and AC Milan will not excite, when speaking on TV show ‘Dribbling’ hosted by Italian broadcaster Rai earlier today.
“AC Milan are an unknown, Inter a hopeful. What match do I expect? Not a good one. AC Milan are behind, Inter now have to bring in some new players, so they’ll be two teams that don’t look great. I’d love to be wrong, for sure it will be a competitive match, but football isn’t just about competition, it’s about emotions, beauty, spectacle, musicality, harmony.”
Sacchi then spoke about Inter coach Antonio Conte.
“Conte is a great professional, a man who really gives his life for football and who always tries to improve himself. I think he will succeed because he is an intelligent and cultured person. Football is not a game system, but a philosophy. Conte must have a better balance between players who are behind the ball and who go on the attack.”
Finally, the former Italy coach gave a piece of advice to AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli.
“A piece of advice to Pioli? Pioli is a wonderful guy, I wish them to play a certain kind of football. Pioli is in a difficult situation, which forces him to make painful choices.”
The Rossoneri are currently 9th in the league after 22 games, sitting 19 points behind their intercity rivals Inter. However, AC Milan have achieved 11 points since the start of the new year, failing to lose in their last seven games. Better than Inter, who have only earnt nine points since the start of the decade.
Inter are currently 2nd in the league table, sitting three points behind rivals and reigning champions Juventus, and one point ahead of inform Lazio, who are 3rd. The Nerazzurri will face the Biancocelesti next weekend, and so tomorrow’s game against the Rossoneri is even more important than usual.
