Inter captain Samir Handanovic will be on the bench in tomorrow’s derby against AC Milan, due to the hairline fracture in his little finger, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The report details how the 35-year-old Slovenian shot stopper was the first player to appear at the sports centre yesterday, desperate to feature in the Milanese derby tomorrow evening. However, the Nerazzurri don’t want to take a risk with him and so coach Antonio Conte will start the player on the bench, with Italian goalkeeper Daniele Padelli set to start.
Handanovic is only in the match squad, the report continues, due to the trust placed in him by Conte. If the Italian coach didn’t trust the Inter captain as much as he does, he wouldn’t have been in the match squad. The club want the 35-year-old to make a full recovery and not exacerbate the injury.
