In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Inter centre back Stefan de Vrij has revealed what Inter manager Antonio Conte told the team at half time of last night’s Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan.
Inter went into the half time interval at San Siro trailing 2-0 following a dismal first half performance but came out an entirely different team in the second half and smashed four past their city rivals to win 4-2.
“At the end of the first half Conte made us understand what was wrong, what we had to change and improve upon. Not only in terms of the game itself, but also in terms of our mentality and character,” the Dutch international defender, who scored Inter’s third goal of the game, explained.
Next he was asked if he thinks the team can dream of lifting the Serie A title come the end of the season after this result put the team back top of the table.
“Can we dream of the Scudetto? Dreaming never hurts, but we think game by game.”
In conclusion, the former Lazio player, who joined Inter in the Summer of 2018 on a free transfer, looked ahead to the Coppa Italia semi final clash with Napoli on Wednesday.
“We try to win every game, we are happy with the result but now we must turn our attention to Wednesday because the Coppa Italia is also an important goal for us.”
