Inter are very keen on the idea of signing Napoli’s Dries Mertens on a free transfer this coming Summer according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The Belgian international attacker’s deal with the Stadio San Paolo club is due to expire at the end of this season and as per the report, he could be convinced to join if a two year contract with an annual salary of €5 million is offered,

Inter like the idea of moving for Mertens as it works out a lot cheaper than trying to sign loan player Alexis Sanchez on a permanent basis.

Napoli are however understood to be refusing to give up on the possibility of being able to sign Mertens to a new contract with the club.

Mertens is not the only player Inter are eyeing on a free transfer with Manchester United’s Tahith Chong also understood to be on their radar.

The report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to add that Inter face strong competition for the signature of Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla.

Napoli, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Everton are all also understood to be interested in the highly rated 19-year-old Albanian international.
