Former Inter and AC Milan manager Alberto Zaccheroni has shared his thoughts and feelings following Sunday night’s memorable Derby della Madonnina between Inter and AC Milan at San Siro.

The game was well and truly a game of two halves with AC Milan dominant in the first half and they went into the half time interval deserved 2-0 leaders. Inter came out in the second half a completely different team to the one that played in the first half, as did AC Milan and Inter ran riot and scored four to secure a 4-2 Milan derby win in the end.

“It is difficult to understand what was going on in the players’ heads at the interval, in the first half Inter seemed to have remained in the locker rooms in the second it happened to Milan. Maybe Pioli prepared his team better before the game and Conte prepared his team better during the interval,” he said in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Sportiva late on Monday night.

Zaccheroni, who last managed the United Arab Emirates national team, managed AC Milan between 1998 and 2001 whilst he managed Inter between 2003 and 2004.

During his time with AC Milan he won a single Serie A title but he failed to win any silverware during his short tenure in charge of Inter.
