Samir Handanovic should make a return to action for Inter’s Derby D’Italia match up against Juventus at the beginning of next month according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

The experienced Slovenian goalkeeper has missed Inter’s past two games due to a hairline fracture to the small finger in his left hand and news that he will be able to return for what is perhaps Inter’s biggest game of the season will undoubtedly come as a massive boost to Inter manager Antonio Conte.

In the meantime, Inter have taken some precautions and have former Sampdoria goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano training with the club.

Viviano has already underwent and passed a medical and now must prove himself to the club’s coaching staff. If he does that, he will be signed to a contract and will vie for the starting goalkeeper jersey with Daniele Padelli in Handanovic’s absence.

The report from the broadcaster goes on to add that star striker Romelu Lukaku could be rested for tomorrow night’s Coppa Italia semi final first leg match with Napoli.

The 26-year-old has played virtually non-stop all season and could be allowed to rest as Lautaro Martinez will be back available again after serving a two match suspension.
