Ivan Zamorano: “My Feelings For Inter Have Never Stopped, It’ll Be A Tough Challenge Against Napoli”

In an interview with Inter’s official club website, Inter.it, legendary Inter striker Ivan Zamorano has admitted to feeling like somewhat of a good luck charm for the club in Milan derbies.

“That was my fourth derby in a row as a fan and the fourth victory: I promise you that I will try to always come to Milan,” he began.

He then spoke on his love for the club, who he spent five years with between 1996 and 2001.

“My feelings for Inter began on the day I landed in Milan and those feelings have never stopped. There is something powerful that links me to the Nerazzurri colours, something that is imprinted in the history of this club.”

He also spoke on his famous 1+8 shirt number that he wore during his time with the club due to the number 9 shirt, which he wanted, belonging to Il Fenomeno Ronaldo: “That number remains indelible, for everyone.”

The Chilean then returned to discuss Sunday night’s match which will certainly be remembered for some time after Inter came from 2-0 down to win 4-2 against their city rivals.

“At the end of the first half we all had that negative feeling, we could have been behind by even more than two goals. Then it turned into the perfect match, with a very happy ending. This team not only plays well, but has character and heart. That’s why it was beautiful. And then after winning the Milan derby people go to work happier.

“The fans like this team because of their determination and passion. The emotion transmitted in the second half was exceptional. Now comes the hard part, staying at the top and continuing the journey.”

Zamorano then sang the praises of Inter and Argentina national team striker Lautaro Martinez, who has been in fine form this season which has been his first as a regular starter for the club and Inter’s attack in general.

“He too, like me, is not very tall, but he is very strong mentally. I must say that Conte can certainly be happy with the work of his attackers. I was generous and gave everything for the team and Lukaku, Lautaro and Sanchez, each with their respective characteristics, are giving a huge hand.”

In conclusion he spoke on Inter’s upcoming Coppa Italia semi final first leg clash against fellow Serie A side Napoli.

“It will be a tough challenge against Napoli because there is a final to be reached and this final would be played against either Juventus or AC Milan. It would be important for Inter to be able to get there.”
