Renowned Italian architect Stefano Boeri has shared his belief that Romelu Lukaku should be Inter’s next club captain.

Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is the current club captain but with him getting on a bit and his contract set to expire at the end of next season, the time is certainly coming for the club to begin considering who to name the next club captain.

Boeri, who is perhaps best known as the architect of Bosco Verticale, the two, tree covered, residential buildings, located not too far from Inter’s club headquarters, has admitted to being surprised about Lukaku and given him his vote to become the next captain of the Nerazzurri.

“I thought he was the Giorgio Chinaglia of the new millennium, but he is becoming much more than that. I didn’t think he had the speed and the charisma that he has shown. He will be the captain of Inter in the future,” he told Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset show Tiki Taka.

Lukaku arrived at Inter during the Summer transfer window in a club record €65 million transfer deal from Premier League club Manchester United. The Belgian international has been in fine form since his arrival having scored 21 goals in 30 games across all competitions.
